Excellence in Life

I spent a few minutes today reflecting on my personal tendency toward excellence. Throughout my thus far short professional life, I have been joyfully surprised by the feedback I have gotten from my employers and other figures of authority. Once again, as I prepare to move on after four years at Coca-Cola in La Crosse, I am met with comments such as, “It is going to be difficult to replace you; we may have to hire three people to get the same job done.” However exaggerated or realistic the comment may be, it still says something about the way others perceive the quality of my work and for that I very thankful.
Understand, I don’t mean this as a personal bragging session. Rather, for the most part I don’t understand what it is that I do differently. What drives me to take my tasks to the next level and always do the best that I can? I’m not sure I can answer that question. Maybe it is some unconscious fear of being inadequate. Maybe I just like to work too much. I think I can say that it is at least in part due to my desire to please God with everything that I do. In any case, again I’m grateful to hear that my work is appreciated.
