Startbuck’s and Me Alone

This past Tuesday morning, I had to stop and have a punctured tire repaired which meant that I had a few minutes to kill while waiting. I decided to check out the new Starbuck’s here in town (as in our first official Starbuck’s—we’ve had a Barnes & Noble Café for quite sometime now, but this is the first independent, retail location in the region). I grew up on Starbuck’s having lived in a large metropolis most of my life, so I know how busy this place is supposed to be at 8:20 on a weekday morning. What I found was quite different from what I had expected. The place was empty! I was the ONLY person in the store! I was shocked. I can’t imagine anyone anywhere has ever been the only customer in a Starbuck’s at 8 a.m. on a weekday. I’ll keep this as a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
