Work, Work, Work

16 October 2006 13:19:52

My lack of recent posts suggests what is true—work has been ridiculously busy as of late. We are very, very near to completing a major web project application that is entirely unique from anything we have ever done in the past. This project was an “initiation” project for one of our new developers. He has plenty of skill and experience, is an excellent coder, has done any incredibly good job of sticking with the project and hasn’t complained a bit. I can help but think how much I would be wondering to myself, “What have I gotten into?” if I were in his shoes. His first major task is the most difficult thing we’ve ever done and on one of the tightest schedules we’ve run in a long time. A hat tip to the new guy!

Directly on the heels of this project comes another which is just as important as the first, but for which we have even less time. Thankfully one of our veteran developers will be the lead on this project. He’s actually been working on it part-time already to get a head start. That’s great from a development perspective, but from my point of view this upcoming project is even more challenging than the one we’re about to complete. It requires a lot more input and thought for me than the current project. Looks like there will be more high-speed weeks to come and still not as many posts to show.
