Preperations for a Great Week Ahead

10 March 2006 15:13:26

So today is the last day of work before a busy weekend (Banquet at church tonight and good friend’s wedding tomorrow) and then a trip down to New Orleans for a week of Katrina Relief with Campus Crusade and all I can keep thinking is how excited I am about being able to help out down there.

Right after the hurricanes ravaged the gulf coast states, I desperately wanted to go down and help, but it just wasn’t possible at the time. I had too many things going on here at home and the cost was prohibitive. In the grand scheme of things, those are probably really poor excuses, but none the less, life was preventing me from going.

Now, so many months later, the Lord is providing me the opportunity, with almost no cost and no strings to hold me back from going. How blessed am I to be able to take a week off of work and (hopefully) help a few of the hundreds of thousands of people affected by this disaster.

In my opinion this is better than a vacation, or at least the best vacation I’ve ever taken simply because I get to do something to help others with my time, not just sit on a beach or in a hotel for a week. Thank you, Lord, for this opportunity and I ask for your safety and sovereignty over our entire journey!
