Two Week Anniversary

10 October 2005 20:21:49

Two weeks ago tonight my life changed, a lot. You see, two weeks ago tonight I started dating an amazing woman of God. Erica is the sweetest (read—not slang “sweet,” but the for real, like sweet tea, sweet) blessing that God has given me for as long as I can remember. Unfortunately, it has also meant our time has been stretched to accommodate each other. This poses a bit of a dilemma as she is still in school and busy with her studies and other commitments and I am, as she would say, quite old.

I am constantly reminded of a song by Emerson Drive that goes something like “…I should be sleeping instead of keeping these late hours we’ve been keeping…” That song could be considered a theme song for our relationship right now. It’s hard to keep our focus on the responsibilities we have while we are so interested in each other.

Lord, I ask for an extra portion of wisdom and self control in these early stages of our relationship. Let us develop together in your time and by your means. Show me how best to be responsible with both of our busy lives and most importantly, keep our focus on you. Oh, and thanks again Lord for the incredible blessings you’ve given to me these past few weeks and months. Each one of them has been more than I could have asked for. You are mind-blowing, Father.
